I reloaded my game prior to knocking him out, then I shot him in the leg FOUR times with my 1911 using suppressed ammo, running away & saving between each shot. I even accidentally killed him a couple of times with a limb shot, which is very frustrating that when he's unconscious a single pistol shot to the leg kills him yet a bomb exploding right next to his head does not. I tried knocking him out, dropping him near the rat "bomb", then shooting it, but he was never killed outright by the rat bomb blast. He never leaves that back room unless I attract his attention, and when I do he ignores the rat bomb, searches briefly for me, gives up, and returns to the back room. He's initially in the main part of the building (with the dead rats) as I approach, then he walks into the back room where he'll stand with his back to the door that you can unlock (pick the lock) from the outside.
Maybe because of the way I've approached this level but Ehrlich has always only ever been in the building with the dead rats by himself, there has never been anyone else in there.
